October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

DVAM Purple Ribbon transparent.png

Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) was first observed in 1987.

The University of Minnesota states it best, "The activities conducted. . . had common themes: mourning those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived, and connecting those who work to end violence" (Read a concise history of DVAM here)

Throughout October, Family Support Center holds events and activities to raise awareness for survivors of domestic violence.
